I am very particular about the maintenance of my small engines. I keep fresh oil and fuel in them while in use and do not let old fuel sit in the tank, even with a stabilizer.
I advise burning/drain fresh fuel, not overloading, changing oil, and storing the battery in a warm place to maintain the generator.
I emphasize the importance of maintaining the generator by changing the oil, using fresh fuel, running it dry after each use, and properly grounding it.
