I prefer this thermometer over others that are only meant for rectal use because it can be used under the arm or tongue as well.
I had a negative experience with the accuracy of this thermometer. It gave bad readings, resulting in a 48-hour nightmare for me and my 10-day-old baby. My baby had to undergo numerous invasive tests and a spinal tap, which were all negative.
The thermometer took more than 30 seconds to give an oral reading on me as an adult with no fever, which is unacceptable.
