The product works great as a protective absorbent and non-slip work surface, even though it was not intended for that purpose.
The absorption side of the product works fine, but the impermeable side does not. The oil penetrated the mat, resulting in a mess on the garage floor instead of just a few spots of oil. I am disappointed with its performance.

The oil cleanup absorber is not very durable. The rubbery backing material breaks down from oil spills, causing the whole mat to be quite messy.
