About Evolution S355MCS 14" Mitering Chop Saw/Heavy Duty/Metal Cutting
Overall Feedback:
78% positive
97% praised for its precise cuts
The cut accuracy of this saw is excellent with specific details like rpm, cool to the touch, and no tear out edges.
I love the saw because it makes accurate cuts at both 90 degrees and miters.
The miter saw was accurate right out of the box and easy to set up.
96% liked the smooth angle adjustments, but 4% found them tricky
I noticed that the pivot point is not centered in the middle of the kerf nor at the front edge of the back stop, resulting in a difference of about 1/8 between a 90 and 45 cut.
The pivot point not being centered causes a 1/8" difference between a 90 and 45 cut.
96% appreciated the long-lasting blade
After using it for 3 months, I was initially worried about blade life, but I am still on my first blade, which is no longer a concern.
98% found it easy to operate
Assembling the miter saw is a quick and simple process, taking less than 15 minutes with good skills.
I have found that the saw saves time in cutting and helps in achieving nice, tight joints for welding, making it a quick payoff.
93% praised the reliable fence system, while 7% experienced fence wobble
I love the fence system of my miter-saw, especially the 3 clamps that hold down all types of materials very well.
I have complained that the pivot point of the miter saw is not centered, causing a 1/8" difference between 90 and 45 cuts.
89% appreciated its powerful motor
The motor performance of the miter-saw is good with precise cuts, cool to the touch and no tear out edges.
I was initially concerned about the adjustability of the miter saw, but after messing around with the bevel and miter settings and checking it with my square, I found that it was in line, right out of the box. I also messed with adjustments through my first few scrap cuts, but ultimately I could trust the angle settings.
I was able to cut the brass with high accuracy using a digital dial veneer caliper to fix the brass position and a vise to lock it in place. The cut was within 10 thousandths of the final length.
It is difficult to know where the cut will be made as the blade is not lined up with anything. I have tried marking on the table part of the saw but it is hard to bring the arm down to see where the blade will hit the wood.
