The Canway metal detector has semi item discrimination and doesn't discriminate out iron much.
Different metals have different tones when detected by the metal detector. For example, Iron has a low tone, Aluminum, Gold and bronze have a 'mittlerer ton', and Silver has a high tone.
The discriminator allows me to exclude certain metal types and it simply works. This shows that my metal detector has the ability to distinguish between different types of metals like gold, silver, iron, aluminum, etc.
I can set the detector to ignore different metals and learn the tones that sound for various types of metal with some practice.

The only issue with the metal detector might be short battery life.
I had a problem with the battery life of the metal detector. The product recommendation was to take the batteries out if not using it for a week, but when I tried to do so, one of the prongs that attaches to the 9 volt battery completely let go.
The battery life is the worst I have ever seen on any product and it takes two 9v batteries.
