After using them for a few miles with a thick sock, I found the boots to be comfortable and they are becoming as comfortable as my walking/cross trainers.
These hiking boots are the most comfortable I have ever owned. They feel like walking on a foam mat that cushions each step.

The middle sole insert pops and causes water leakage. The left one popped after a month and the right one popped a couple of weeks later.
There are gaps behind the knobs which are probably for cushioning, but once worn the open space gets exposed and water will enter.
When I walked through three inches of water, my boots got wet on the inside, indicating that they are not waterproof.
