I have a mattress protector that repels water and keeps my mattress dry. It is waterproof.
The zipper goes around the whole thing, so it is not waterproof.
I bought a waterproof cover for my mattress and was happy about it. However, when I reached my destination, the mattress was drenched and smelled bad. I questioned the company about buying a new mattress since the waterproofing did not work as advertised.
