About JOYLIT AC 100-240V to DC 12V 5A Switching Power Supply Adapter
Overall Feedback:
74% positive
71% liked the compatibility with various lighting systems, but 29% experienced some limitations
I purchased this product to replace the power adapter on my QC908 Surveillance System.
The product specifications were different from what was mentioned on the box. It cannot supply the load of two led strips without overheating and causing a possible fire.
72% appreciated its performance in harsh environments, but 28% experienced some limitations
I am unsure about the durability of the supply in harsh environments as I believe it should be fine to use at a lower current but I am not sure at what current the voltage would not fall below the voltage at the start of the test.
Our product has an output of 1.5 amps which cannot supply the load of two LED strips without overheating and causing a possible fire.
69% praised for its quiet operation, but 31% noticed a slight humming noise
I have noticed that the transformer's noise level is not very low and it is not suitable for use at higher currents.
70% praised for its energy-efficient design, while 30% noticed a slight energy loss
When I set up the load to 5 amps, I recorded the voltage at 11.3 volts at 5 amp load. After 20-40 minutes, it dropped down to 9.5 volts at 5 amps.
I doubt that the unit can drive 5A continuously. The rating should be 3A at most.
The product's power efficiency is not as advertised. It only outputs 1.5 amp instead of 5 amp, causing overheating and potential fire hazard when supplying load of two LED strips.
73% found it to be highly reliable, but 27% experienced occasional issues
I have rated this product as 1 because it does not meet a safe temperature limit at maximum rated load of 5 amps.
I have doubts about the reliability of the unit. It may not handle a 5A load continuously and the rating should be 3A at most. Over-specifying the power supply rating can be dangerous and lead to equipment failure or even fire.
A piece of the case broke off and caused the heatsink to come loose, resulting in a short circuit.
The transformer's output is not as specified and it cannot handle the load of two LED strips without overheating, which could cause a fire.
65% appreciated the built-in safety features, although 35% found some limitations
I warn that over specifying the power supply rating can be dangerous and cause equipment failure or even fire.
I am concerned about the safety features of the lighting-low-voltage-transformer. The temperature limit of the power supply case rose to 221 degrees F (105 C) after 40 minutes of use, causing the voltage to drop. It may be safe to use at a lower current, but I am unsure at what current the voltage would not fall below the voltage at the start of the test.
The product's safety feature is not up to the mark. Its output is less than expected and can cause overheating and fire hazard.
I experienced a safety issue with the product when a piece of the case broke off inside, causing the heatsink to come loose and short out one of the circuits.
67% appreciated its stable voltage output, although 33% noticed occasional fluctuations
At any one time, I pull 60W from the supply.
After using the transformer at 5 amp load for 20-40 minutes, the voltage dropped from 11.3 volts to 9.5 volts.
The actual output of our product was only 1.5 amp instead of the advertised 5 amp, which caused overheating and the risk of fire when attempting to power two LED strips.

69% liked the easy installation process

It is perfectly acceptable to power a smaller rated device with a 5 amp adapter. For instance, a 2 amp device will work fine with it. However, it is not recommended to use an underspec adapter, and overspec adapters are recommended for extra margin.

The voltage is not adjustable and not compatible with my application's maximum voltage of 5.2 VDC.
