I am happy with the adhesion of the LED strip lights on painted wood and bare wood, but I am not sure how well they will hold over time.
The adhesive of the led-strip-lights stuck very well to the rough cut 2x6.
I advise looking for more expensive lights if the adhesive is not solid.
The adhesive did not work.

I found the strip lights easy to install using the peel & stick method on the underside of the shelf for additional lighting during experiments.
I had a great time installing the product and found it easy to do so. I also loved the dimmer switch.
On straight line areas, the LED strip lights held up well. However, around corners, I secured them with white electrical tape to prevent them from pulling away from the top of the box.
