The tape is still accurate even after dropping it a few times and is pretty solid.
To get an accurate reading, I should ensure that the device is not touched after pointing it to the exact spot, otherwise it will slightly move away from the intended location.
The laser measurement tool cannot measure anything below 1 foot, which is surprising considering its design.
