I have noticed that the Bosch Blaze Pro GLM165-40 provides precise measures with an accuracy of up to 1/16 inch, eliminating the need for estimation and the possibility of inaccuracy that comes with more conventional techniques of measurement.

I have found that the laser distance meter's stated range is very optimistic. I tried measuring the distance from the ground at a 17 angle to my chimney with a 32 ladder, but I could not get a measurement. The same reading was not problematic on an overcast day. In bright outdoor conditions, 30 feet is probably the realistic maximum my unit will read. Indoors it is much better. Realistically, measuring anything near 165 feet is totally unfeasible.
