About MOKiN USB C Docking Station Dual DisplayPort
Overall Feedback:
76% positive
89% found it compatible with devices
I faced challenges while using non-Apple displays with Apple products, but this device is great and technically I could open it up and run 4 different displays including the laptop.
I use 3 displays, 2 USB C devices, 3 standard USB devices and power my laptop with the included power supply.
The dock supports DisplayLink technology and requires corresponding drivers to use either of the designated HDMI / DisplayPort pairs, even if only one external monitor is added.
I can use this docking station with my Acer TravelMate and Dell Latitude. My work Dell is pretty tight on compatibility because of how locked down it is.
88% found it compatible with different os,yet
I was not aware of the challenge of using non-Apple displays with Apple products, but this device is great and technically I could open it up and run 4 different displays including the laptop.
I find it super-convenient to have both full size SD and microSD on the dock because my laptop doesn't have an SD card slot.
I contacted customer service and was informed that the docking station's 4K@120hz HDMI feature only works for Windows.
88% liked the data transfer speed, while
I personally tested the data transfer speed and found that the speedtest through the ethernet port ran at my Internet provider's maximum.
The cable is USB-C, not Thunderbolt, so it can only reach speeds of 10Gbps instead of Thunderbolt's 40Gbps.
94% were satisfied with the ease of use
I found the docking station easy to set up and use. It is just as good, if not better, than the HP one specific to my work laptop.
By using the hub, I reduced the number of cords from 5 to 1. It makes it quick and easy for me to switch between my work and personal laptops.
My daughter and I were able to easily plug in and use the same set up.
96% highlighted the multi-monitor support
The docking station provided me with the necessary extra monitor connections at a good resolution beyond basic HDMI.
After installing the DisplayLink drivers, I can use the docking station to support 2 monitors and my laptop screen.
I had no issues with a dual-monitor plus laptop as third screen set-up via HDMI and DVI.
89% liked the number and types of ports, while
I can charge my laptop and multiple other 5V items without any problem using the hub, which has USB-A and Direct Link Ports.
Having full size SD and microSD on the dock is super-convenient for me since my laptop doesn't have an SD card slot.
Based on my experience, this dock has a larger size compared to other docks with similar port counts.
I noticed that the docking station has a variety of ports available. The back panel includes a USB-A 2.0 port and a USB-C uplink port for the computer. The front panel has an additional USB-A 2.0 port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and two USB-C 3.1 10Gbps ports.
There is one solo HDMI port and two HDMI/DisplayPort ports. Only one HDMI/DisplayPort can be used at a time, so there are three ports in total.
86% were satisfied with the power delivery, but
I appreciate the power delivery feature of this docking station, especially the fact that it charges my laptop, unlike other docking stations I have tested.
The dock can only handle around 100 watts, which is insufficient for power-hungry processors and video cards. But, it can charge a regular laptop without a dedicated GPU with a single cable.
I faced challenges while using non-Apple displays with Apple products, but this device is great and technically I could open it up and run 4 different displays including the laptop.
I cannot use the docking station to power my computer as I get a slow charging error and the computer wants to go into energy saving mode. The docking station would need a USB C input of at least 85 watts for it to charge my laptop with 65 watts.
The docking station provides wired networking and additional ports that most modern Chromebooks lack and works perfectly with my brand new Chromebook.
