About NEW Microsoft Surface Dock 2
Overall Feedback:
69% positive
74% found it compatible with devices, yet
I love the magnetic Surface connector, so I decided to splurge and get the official Microsoft Surface Dock 2 instead of a USB C hub with charging support and lots of USBs and HDMI etc. Now, I can plug everything into my laptop with just one cable.
The dock is completely incompatible with our new Samsung curved monitors.
70% found it compatible with different os,yet
I tried two other second party docks claiming to be Pro 9 compatible, but they didn't work.
71% liked the data transfer speed, while
The docking station takes 30+- seconds to connect, which is a negative aspect.
78% were satisfied with the ease of use
I like the network port on the old and new docks. It makes it easy to connect my old surface pro to the new surface book and transfer files without a complicated setup.
The dock is easy to use and set up with a compact design that doesn't take up much desk space.
72% highlighted the multi-monitor support,but
I bought the docking station to set up a dual monitor system on my desk with my Surface Pro 7+ and to easily disconnect from the set up in case I need to go mobile.
I had to spend extra money on USB-C to HDMI cables because most monitors don't have USB-C ports. It's advisable to buy more expensive cables that support Thunderbolt 4. I also need to find USB-C only that supports 8K monitors because if I have 5K 120hz monitors, the 4K monitor wires might not work to spec.
The purpose of having multiple screens is to increase productivity, but it is defeated when I try to position all the plugs so the connection stays.
I have faced issues with the dock specifications stating that it supports dual 4K at 60hz. I have had success getting one monitor to 4k 60hz while the other monitor is stuck at 4K 30hz.
66% liked the number and types of ports
I am satisfied with the number of USB ports provided by the dock. It is enough for a non-insane person. I compare it with my desktop, which uses about 15 USB ports and has a hub.
I love the magnetic Surface connector, so I decided to splurge and get the official Microsoft Surface Dock 2 instead of a USB C hub with charging support and lots of USBs and HDMI etc. Now, I can plug everything into my laptop with just one cable.
I was hoping to connect 4 USB devices, Network and HDMI all together but it only worked with two USB and network connected.
