About Lenovo ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock US (40AF0135US)
Overall Feedback:
71% positive
81% found it compatible with devices
I faced compatibility issues with the dock, but after updating drivers and Radeon software on my laptop, I was able to get it running.
79% found it compatible with different os,yet
I faced compatibility issues with the dock, but resolved it by updating drivers and Radeon software on my laptop.
I was looking for a docking station that could support multiple generations of Thinkpad laptops, Dell desktop, and an LG ultrawide monitor. Only the T480 and LG monitor support USB-C, the other systems support USB-A 3.0. The T450 and Dell systems are not on the supported list but they worked.
I tried connecting the device with three different laptops and two different USB-C cables. Windows keeps trying to bring up the hub and then dropping it repeatedly.
73% liked the data transfer speed, while
The dock supports data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps while the Thunderbolt 3 dock supports 40 Gbps.
I did not realize that the TB spec maxes out at 100w PD, so I couldn't power up my laptop directly from any dock.
Even though the dock has 4 monitor ports, I can only connect 2 external monitors due to the limitation of thunderbolt 3 bandwidth.
82% appreciated the durability; however
After 2 months, the product stopped connecting to any device, monitor or computer.
I warn against trusting cables from unknown brands as they may damage the laptop.
I discovered that the warranty had expired a full year before my purchase on Amazon.
87% were satisfied with the ease of use
The laptop-docking-station has an integrated USB-C cable and universal compatibility, making it easy to connect to my laptop and peripherals wherever I go.
89% highlighted the multi-monitor support,but
I was looking for a docking station that could support multiple generations of Thinkpad laptops, Dell desktop, and an LG ultrawide monitor. Even though the T450 and Dell systems were not on the supported list, they still worked.
I am able to use 3 monitors in extended mode (laptop+2) at 1920x1080 for work.
I tried to use the dock with two monitors, but it was basically unusable.
88% liked the number and types of ports, while
There are no step-by-step instructions to figure out which ports go with which cable.
81% were satisfied with the power delivery, but
I found that the unit's power delivery was not enough to support the extreme series, but I was still able to use it with a regular adapter and it worked well.
I cannot power up my laptop directly from any dock because the TB spec currently maxes out at 100w PD.
The dock comes with a 120W power brick and charges the laptop twice as slow as the laptop power adapter.
69% appreciated the security features,but
I have complained that the dock periodically drops the external video signal from my laptop while I am working. This is unacceptable and I had to return the dock due to this issue.
The right angle USB-C connector is fairly low profile, so when trying to unplug it from a gaming device with a case, there isn't much to grip and I end up rocking it back and forth to get it out. This can cause premature wear on the USB-C port and increases the chances of it failing.
