Overall Feedback:
72% positive
78% found it compatible with devices, yet
I tested a Dell docking station and found that the HDMI video port works properly while trying to maintain compatibility with HP equipment.
77% found it compatible with different os,yet
I tested a Dell docking station and found that the HDMI video port works properly. I was trying to keep compatibility using HP equipment.
I found out that the HP G5 is not compatible with Windows 11.
HP does not test their internal products for compatibility, which is reflected in negative customer feedback regarding laptop-docking-station compatibility with different operating systems.
74% liked the data transfer speed, while
Most people wouldn't notice, but external storage or networking devices requiring over 300-400 Mbps may be affected by the dock's USB 3.2 to USB 2.0 conversion. Caution is advised for USB-C ports if faster speeds are needed.
The USB A ports no longer work at SuperSpeed and operate at USB 2.0 speeds of 480 Mbps instead of 5 Gbps.
80% appreciated the durability; however
I have been using this docking station for years at the office with different laptops and find it very convenient, but it has always been less than 1080p.
85% were satisfied with the ease of use, althrough
I have noticed that the power button on top is an improved design over previous generations where the entire top panel acts as a power switch. It is shorter and has a slightly larger footprint on the desktop than the older ones that are taller and narrower.
I quickly found a firmware update for the docking station and installed it without any issues.
I find it difficult to use the laptop for long periods.
81% highlighted the multi-monitor support,but
I could only get 4k on one output and 1080p on the second output, no matter which combination of HDMI and DP I used, despite the docking station stating dual 4k screens are supported.
Now I can use 1 DP and 1 HDMI, but the HDMI only supports 1920x1200@30hz.
This docking station only supports one monitor at Display port 1.3 'max' resolution. If a second monitor is connected, there won't be enough power to display at the same resolution.
The device does not support DisplayPort 1.3 for dual monitor support at 2560x1440 resolution.
87% liked the number and types of ports, while
The docking station can be connected to any monitor port with the correct cable adapters and has 2 DisplayPorts.
The USB 3.2 ports will be changed to USB 2.0. Most people won't notice unless they use external storage or networking devices requiring over 300-400 Mbps.
I contacted HP customer support and was informed that the docking station cannot exceed 2.5K on any port, which I was unable to achieve.
I found that the laptop is not compatible with the 3 ports.
I connected the devices to the main USB-C cable from the dock, indicating that the docking station is compatible with laptop-docking-station devices.
