I was pleasantly surprised by the design and build quality of the microscope, despite anticipating something made of mostly plastic parts. The base and support components are made of sturdy metal, and the plastic camera housing and display screen are made of sturdy plastic. The plastic parts are reinforced with brass inserts to receive the threads.
The stage/platform is not very helpful for electronics repair work.
