About Schwinn Koen Boys Bike for Toddlers and Kids
Overall Feedback:
77% positive
62% praised the braking system, but 38% had issues
I tightened the middle bolt and it snapped off, causing the entire brake system to come off.
I tried to adjust the brakes as much as I could, but they did not function reliably. They would either be too loose and not stop the bike or be too tight and lock up against the tire.
The brake on the handle can be turned around and doesn't work when turned down.
72% were impressed with the comfortable ride
At its lowest setting, the seat height is 23 inches, suitable for children who are 44 inches tall.
I felt very comfortable on the bike despite being a nervous type.
69% were impressed with the durability, but 31% weren't
I am sure that the bike will have a lot of life and durability, and I plan to pass it down to my twin brothers.
The bike seat tore after a few falls, so I had to replace the seat cover early on. It's made of plastic material.
I have noticed that the tires keep going flat, it is uncomfortable for my son to ride, and the brakes become really tight. This suggests that the bike is not durable.
Overall build quality is strong, but the moving parts/joints cannot withstand few weeks of usage by a kid.
70% appreciated the easy assembly
Assembling the bike was pretty easy, except for the handlebars.
The assembly process was easy and took around 30-40 minutes.
70% liked the safety features, but 30% thought it lacked
Pedaling backwards acts as a brake, which is a safety feature of our kids-bikes.
In the 16inch model, there is no kickstand and bike reflectors, which is a safety hazard.
I suspect that the wiggly seat has caused a few falls, indicating a safety issue.
Locking the handlebars without tilting requires more effort than necessary while a kid is peddling.
The bike has adjustable seat and handlebar heights, which is a great bonus and allows it to grow with the child.
