About Mongoose Maxim Girls Mountain Bike, 24-Inch Wheels
Overall Feedback:
80% positive
76% appreciated the adjustability, but 24% found it difficult
Adjusting the gears is extremely difficult.
80% praised the braking system, but 20% had issues
The brakes are strong, but may require some minor adjustments.
The brakes on my bicycle are a weak spot and need readjustment every month.
My steel brake cable was missing the end cap and horribly frayed.
During my first ride, the bottom bracket broke off.
72% were impressed with the durability, but 28% weren't
Once I get past the initial issues, the bike should hold up for years of playing and looks good.
I need to take my bike for repair because of a bent sprocket.
During riding, the gears shift automatically which makes it hard to ride and easy to fall.
The brakes are faulty.
79% appreciated the easy assembly
Assembling the kids bike was easy. I only had to put on the front tire, handle bars, and seat (which had a quick release nut).
Assembling the bike was easy and it will likely last until my kid grows out of it.
It was easy for me to assemble and it took about 30 minutes.
73% liked the safety features, but 27% thought it lacked
Upon assembling the bike, I found that the handlebars were in the wrong direction and the front brake was on the back side of the tire instead of the front side. This had to be fixed, and it made me worry about the physical safety of the bike.

78% found it lightweight and easy to balance, but 22% didn't
The suspension is super stiff and the fork moves very little under my weight, and the rear does not move at all under my weight.
The best thing about this model is the single rear brake, which can be controlled by both hand and foot, helping kids get used to using both types of brakes.
I have complained about the bike's poor braking system, specifically the coaster brake, which caused the rear wheel to lock up and made it difficult to ride.
