About Yvolution Y-Velo Senior Balance Bike
Overall Feedback:
80% positive
83% were satisfied with the seat height adjustability, but 17% weren't
I appreciate the adjustability of the seat and handlebars.
I can easily adjust the seat height and it fits my son perfectly on the highest setting, even though he is smaller than the average 2.5 year old.
I need to tighten the seat bolt regularly as it works its way loose every few weeks.
The Y Velo's only downside is its seat, which can only be adjusted to 3 pre-determined heights, while the SmarTrike offers a wider range of adjustments.
88% were satisfied with the safety features, but 12% weren't
The balance bike has a safety feature that allows starting with 2 wheels in back for added stability while learning to coordinate movement, and then progressing to one wheel to focus on balance.
I like the handlebar lock feature that prevents the bike from turning in a specific direction.
The locked handle bars are the best feature of the balance bike. It prevents kids from completely turning the handle around, causing less frustration.
The bike tire fork is wide and hits the ankles of the child, which is a safety concern for kids' balance bikes.
The solid foam tires on this balance bike slip, causing kids to fall more often than on the rubber covered foam tires. The rubber covered foam tires are safer for kids to ride on.
77% found the frame material durable, but 23% raised issues
The balance bike has a good design for small children and is of high quality. It helps us learn how to ride a bike with pedals without training wheels at a very young age.
On this bike, kids fall less often as the rubber covered foam tires provide better grip compared to the solid foam tires, as I have noticed.
My plastic washer/coupler that goes between the handlebar and frame crumbled after a couple dozen or more rides, causing the handlebar to seize up when riding. This is negative feedback regarding the frame material of kids-balance-bikes.

87% liked the brake system, but 13% weren't satisfied
I wish the bike had brakes for when I go down hills.
My 18-month-old child fell forward over the handlebars twice and got scrapes on her face, but fortunately, she was wearing a helmet.
