About Razor A5 LUX Kick Scooter
Overall Feedback:
99% positive
88% praised for its reliable braking system, but 12% experienced issues
I am still learning how much pressure to put on the brake, but the braking system is okay. It is quiet and does the job.
The brake plate can cause severe burns on contact and is a serious safety concern. I have personally experienced this with melted sports shoe soles.
Multiple riders in our family have had their pants caught by the rear wheel brake, causing the scooter to suddenly stop and resulting in a hard uncontrolled fall.
96% praised for its durability, while 4% experienced frequent breakdowns
Two of my three A5s are nearly six years old and still going strong.
I initially kept up with my sister on her older brother's original Razor with small wheels, which is at least 13 years old and was heavily mistreated, left out in the rain, etc, but still works fine, a testament to Razors durability. However, I got tired of the small wheels nearly coming to a stop and lurching me over the too-short handlebars every time I hit a crack or expansion seam in the street.
The aluminum welds are neat and even, anodization is of good quality and the grip tape on the deck seems durable.
The scooter is built to last a long time and is a lot of fun to use.
I have been using the scooter every day and it has taken a bit of a beating. I have faced issues with the elastic cords inside the handlebars, steering column, wheels, and the rear wheel guard and side guard.
My scooter broke after more than two years of heavy use.
95% found the folding mechanism easy to use, while 5% struggled with it
Operating the folding mechanism and handlebars is easy.
While riding on sidewalks or in the street, the lock switch for the folding mechanism rattles a lot.
96% found maintenance a breeze, but 4% found it cumbersome
The scooter is almost maintenance-free, except for occasional cleaning with a rag.
My first A-5 had over 10,000 miles on it and only needed wheel bearing replacement for maintenance.
The grip tape on my deck seems to be of good quality and will last for a long time.
The scooter is pretty rattly.
96% appreciated the smooth ride
I can ride the scooter comfortably despite being near the maximum recommended physical dimensions.
Riding the scooter feels easy and safe since it is close to the ground.
93% liked its speed
I covered a distance of 1.7km in 10 minutes, which means I was going at a speed of around 10km/h. It was pretty fast.
I am using the scooter downtown and not planning to zip along the sidewalks at 20 mph.
I am glad I have my helmet on just in case I get some fast speeds on a downhill.
Going uphill on the scooter is a lot of work, but it can easily reach 25 MPH going down a hill and 10+ MPH on the flats.
The braking system of this scooter is not good. I need to keep my fingers on the acceleration all the time, which could be painful for the kids over time.
