About Mongoose Trace Kick Scooter for Youth Adult Boys and Girls
Overall Feedback:
70% positive
71% praised for its reliable braking system, but 29% experienced issues
I need to apply a lot of pressure to slow down safely because the brake plate doesn't contact efficiently. It's not very helpful when riding downhill.
My scooter's brakes are not effective enough to stop it properly.
I feel that the steering is jittery and the wheels resist moving in a certain direction.
75% praised for its durability, while 25% experienced frequent breakdowns
I have taken the scooter on 4-mile bike/scooter rides and have not faced any issues with durability or handling.
The scooter is sturdy, easy to fold, easy to adjust, and the big wheels make uneven sidewalks melt away.
The board weighs over 10 lbs.
I was disappointed that the scooter couldn't handle a 180 spin, resulting in its failure.
73% found the folding mechanism easy to use, while 27% struggled with it
I saw some complaints about the loudness of the scooter, which I attribute to the folding mechanism. However, I would not trade the ease of that folding mechanism for anything.
When I hold the scooter in the air, it feels solid and sturdy. But when I put the wheels on the ground, there is between 4-6mm of play in the folding mechanism, making it feel cheap.
The folding mechanism of the scooter can feel stilted, like the joints haven't been well lubricated out of the factory. A little lubricant goes a long way in making it fold smoothly.
77% found maintenance a breeze, but 23% found it cumbersome
The scooter is sturdy, easy to fold, and easy to adjust. The big wheels make uneven sidewalks easy to handle.
I had to correct 2 minor issues with the kick-scooter. I fixed the handle bar and the handlebars were slightly off-center alignment with the wheel. Both issues were easy to fix.
I can fold up the board for easier transport and storage, but it is fairly heavy at over 10 pounds.
I'm not sure if I need to loosen the wheels or use WD40.
I noticed that the pin that locks it into the open or folded position is getting looser, which bothers me a bit. I am unsure if this is normal or becoming a problem, as I havent had it long enough to gauge.
80% appreciated the smooth ride, but 20% found it bumpy
I find that the 180 mm wheel version provides a fairly smooth ride across a variety of urban conditions.
I was impressed by the smoothness, quietness, and speed of the scooter on my first ride after receiving it. It was super fun.
My scooter doesn't feel as smooth as my daughter's Razor scooter, which means it has more friction loss from the wheel.
79% liked its speed, but 21% found it too slow
I was impressed with the smoothness, quietness, and speed of the scooter on my first ride. It was super fun to ride.
Some people complained that it was loud.
I have to push hard to move at a decent speed.
I have noticed that the brake plate requires a lot of pressure to slow down safely, especially when riding on steep downhill.
74% liked its weight capacity, but 26% found it too limited
My son, who is 9 years old and weighs about 60 pounds, falls well within the weight range for the scooter.
