I compared the braking system of this scooter to others and found that the large stamping area is similar to a normal manual scooter, making it easier for children to use. Handle bar brakes used in other scooters are less preferred as they are difficult for little hands to pull on.
The braking system is easy to use and it makes me feel safe while using it.
There is no hand brake on the scooter and the braking options are limited to pressing the foot on the rear wheel cover to cause friction on the tire or to coast well in advance of where I want to stop and using my feet to catch myself at the last moment.

Both of our scooters had battery failure. GoTrax sent a replacement battery for the one under warranty, but they won't help or accept blame for the one out of warranty.
