About Owl Tools 1/8" Inch Cobalt Drill Bits
Overall Feedback:
77% positive
74% appreciated its precise drilling accuracy, though 26% experienced deviation
I have personally used the drill bits and found them to be unsatisfactory. They dulled out while cutting aluminum and broke when attempting to drill 1/4 plate mild steel. The advertising was fraudulent and I have never purchased worse drill bits than these. In my opinion, Hobo freight offers better quality for a fraction of the cost.
At a low speed, the drill motor's bits became dull after just 2-3 revolutions.
While drilling on steel, my 1/4" drill bit snapped, which was not what I expected.
71% praised for its fast drilling speed, while 29% found it slow
At a very low speed, the drill motor's bits became dull within two to three revolutions.
When I tried to drill into the tang of a carbon steel knife, the drill bits dulled immediately.
I had to go and get some more Milwaukee bits because the jobber-drill-bits I bought had a drilling speed of only 5% of the depth.
I broke the drill bits while drilling 1/4 plate mild steel, indicating poor drilling speed.
72% liked its long-lasting durability, but 28% experienced frequent breakage
I have been using the drill bit in wood and it cuts well without snapping, indicating its strength.
I tried to drill 1/4 plate mild steel and three out of 13 drill bits broke on two holes.
I have found that the drill bits dull quickly while drilling into the tang of a carbon steel knife.
I was disappointed when the drill bit snapped while drilling on steel. It did not live up to my expectations.
69% liked the comfortable grip design, while 31% found it slippery
I noticed that the drill bits became dull after just a few revolutions at a low speed.
70% found it resistant to heat buildup, but 30% experienced thermal damage
I had to apply a lot of force to make the drill bits cut through 28 gauge steel roofing.
I noticed that the bits became dull after just a few revolutions of the drill motor at a low speed.
Rephrased:
The bits became dull quickly at low speed.
76% praised for its versatility in drilling various materials, though 24% had difficulty with metal
The material is challenging and it's cast iron.
After using the drill bits for the first time, I found that they were unable to cut through metal. I had to stop and reverse the drill thinking that maybe they were reverse drill bits. It seems that the drill bits are not versatile enough to cut through metal, which was the reason for my purchase.
The drill bits I used dulled immediately when I tried drilling into the tang of a carbon steel knife. They are not made of Cobalt.

I have commented on the poor quality control of the drill bits. The smaller bits were terrible while the larger bits seemed passable.
