I drilled half a dozen holes in a thick aluminum garage door threshold in less than 5 minutes.
I have found that the jobber-drill-bits do not have enough drilling speed to make holes in the flange of T-posts. The first bit I used was able to drill 5 holes before it was done, but the other bits required a lot of effort and could not last for more than one hole.
