About Portable Power Station Explorer 500
Overall Feedback:
90% positive
87% found it easy to transport
It's easy for me to carry to my area and fill up the floats, put the speaker and phones on charge, and enjoy the beach.
I like that it is easy to carry and folds to be very compact.
89% appreciated the fuel efficiency, though 11% didn't
I used the battery unit for 7 nights straight and was amazed by its efficiency as it still had 43% of the battery left.
After receiving the DC car plugin adapter for my cpap machine, I noticed that the battery is very efficient and silent on DC power.
Rephrased:
The battery is efficient and silent on DC power with the DC car plugin adapter for my cpap machine.
At the end of a typical day, I have about 35% power left according to the built-in display.
84% appreciated the low maintenance, though 16% didn't
There is new guidance on how to maintain the unit when it is in storage.
I dislike running and maintaining gas generators.
78% liked the quiet operation, but 22% found it loud
The battery is almost silent and even when the fan turns on, it's as quiet as a laptop fan. I had no trouble sleeping with the unit a few feet from my bed.
I have a problem with this inverter as it produces a high pitch squeal while the AC ports are in use, which gives me a headache in under a minute and makes my ears hurt.
Even when drawing low power, the fan comes on periodically and it is either on or off, not variable speed which would make it quiet when under low load.
The noise level was so high that it prevented me from sleeping.
When using AC power, there is a loud high pitched whine on this solar generator that is not present on others. It is very annoying and can be heard throughout the campervan.
85% praised the power output
The inverter-generator has accurate power specifications and is a well-built portable power supply with a power output of 110vac @ 500w.
I tested the power output of the inverter-generator and found that it can charge up to 4 lime scooters from a fully charged power station.
87% appreciated the safety features, although 13% encountered issues
Having this much power on standby with safety features related to inverter-generators should be in every emergency kit.
The inverter-generator has safety features that keep kids and pets safe in case of a car breakdown, and provides emergency power for staying comfortable and contacting help.
There are some shortcomings with the product, which have already been widely discussed. However, the newest Jackery Explorer 1000 model has addressed some of these issues. Additionally, the product lacks an MPPT controller which significantly limits charging time and has no rubber caps to protect the DC outlet from the elements.
I find the inverter-generator easy to manage in size with a comfortable carry handle, making it easy to transport. I plan to take it on a trek this summer.
