About Western Digital 2TB WD Blue SN580 NVMe Internal Solid State Drive SSD
Overall Feedback:
88% positive
86% found it compatible with various systems, but 14% encountered compatibility issues
I purchased the SSD for my Lenovo Legion 7i gaming laptop due to limited storage space.
I bought this SSD for my Lenovo Legion 7i gaming laptop due to limited storage.
The product was not compatible with my PC, so I returned it. Some motherboards have problems with certain brands. I gave it to a local repair, but they were not able to do anything with it. Although I returned it past the 7-day return policy, the product is still showing stuck on pick up for a month. I have not received my money back yet.
I suspect there may be issues using this Gen4 card with a Gen3 PCIe mobo, despite it being theoretically backwards-compatible.
88% praised for its rugged durability, while 12% experienced hardware failure
I use these drives because they are inexpensive, reliable and don't get very hot.
I run these drives with heatsinks and the temperatures are fine, actually lower than the drive it replaced.
The internal solid-state drive, made by Toshiba, has 200MBs of HBM which is quite high. Its performance is almost as good as an SN770 and it runs cooler, albeit slightly.
I am concerned about the durability of the SSD as it always stays above 50C even when idling, which is worrying for a solid-state drive.
My SSD stopped working suddenly and my PC was unable to boot. It seems like the SSD was not durable enough.
87% liked the generous storage capacity
I bought two 1TB drives to replace some generic 512gb units that came in some prebuilts.
The SSD has high capacity and is made by Toshiba (rebranded Sandisk). It has 200MBs of HBM, which is quite high, especially if my system doesn't have a lot of RAM. The performance is almost as good as an SN770, and it runs cooler (if only slightly).
I bought this SSD due to limited storage space on my laptop.
I use one of these drives in an external USB-C enclosure and get acceptable sustained write speeds when imaging hard drives or copying out files for manual backups.
87% appreciated its low power consumption, though 13% noticed higher energy usage
I am concerned about the high temperature of the SSD, which goes up to 85C. Anything above 50C is a bit concerning even if it's a SSD.
94% praised for its lightning-fast read and write speeds
I achieved the advertised 4150Mb/s in both read and write operations on the PCIe 4x4 bus with the drive.
For typical daily use, the drive works well even though it's not the fastest by metrics.
83% praised for its lightning-fast read and write speeds
Experiential insights by users
I got 1.39 million IOPS from the rated 1.5 million IOPS of the drive, indicating its capacity.
