About Lexar 1TB NM790 SSD with Heatsink PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 2280 Internal Solid State Drive
94% liked the generous storage capacity
I made a very good purchase with good price, capacity and speed.
The Lexar NM710 2TB SSD is advertised as a PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe disk with standard M.2 2280 form factor and capable of reaching 4850MB/s data transfer.
95% praised for its rugged durability, while 5% experienced hardware failure
I recommend this SSD for its durability and reliability. It is built to last with a TBW rating of up to 1200TB and a 5-year warranty.
The internal solid-state drive gets hot at full load and is not suitable for laptops or consoles. But it works well for desktop computers with good ventilation, provided the motherboard has aluminum heatsinks for NVMe.
As of August 2023, the internal solid state drive is not working reliably with Ubuntu or Pop_OS!
92% praised for its lightning-fast read and write speeds, but 8% experienced slower performance
I was able to reach read speeds of 4860MB/s on CrystalDiskMark and burst to 4900MB/s during a file transfer on Windows with the SSD. Additionally, I achieved a write speed of 4472MB/s on the benchmark, which was slightly lower than expected, but during a file transfer it did reach 4500MB/s write speed.
The Lexar NM790 SSD provides great performance to my PS5 with loading times 10x faster.
I have found other units with similar performance and lower price that also run a bit cooler.
The SSD has weak areas in random writes and runs hot if installed under a MB vendor heatsink under a huge video card.
92% found it compatible with various systems, but 8% encountered compatibility issues
This is our first SSD from Lexar and we hope it is as reliable as their flash media products.
I am going to recommend this product to my clients who are looking for an upgrade, which shows that it is compatible with internal-solid-state-drives.
As of August 2023, the internal solid-state drive is not working reliably with Ubuntu or Pop_OS!
89% appreciated its low power consumption, though 11% noticed higher energy usage
During heavy reading and writing transfers, my SSD hit 68 Celsius, indicating that it consumes a lot of power during these operations. I recommend using a motherboard SSD heatsink or a M.2 heatsink to prevent the SSD from throttling.
89% appreciated the silent operation, though 11% noticed some noise
My SSD temperature runs in the low 50s at idle, indicating that it operates silently.
My internal solid-state drive failed suddenly.
