About Kingston NV2 250G M.2 2280 NVMe Internal SSD
Overall Feedback:
76% positive
74% liked the generous storage capacity, but 26% found it too small
It's nice to have a large capacity SSD after living with SSD/HDD combo setups.
We are very happy with the speed and capacity of the M.2 SSD, it works flawlessly.
At 60% capacity, my 2tb version stopped working.
The write speed dropped to 80 MB for the rest of the copy, which was very slow and painful to wait for. I stopped the copy and didn't bother testing the read speeds, indicating that I was not going to keep the drive due to its poor performance.
When the drive is full, my write speeds drop significantly, specifically when it reaches 420MB. The write speeds drop from 2,000MBs+ to 200MBs- and sometimes below 100MBs!
73% praised for its rugged durability, while 27% experienced hardware failure
I have been using the 1TB SN750 in my desktop PC for over 2 years now, and it is still going strong after being in my PS5 before upgrading.
With over 1TB write non-stop, I found that the temperature only maxes out at 80C and there was no thermal throttling.
If I use the SSD, it may degrade dramatically and cause corrupted files within a year or two.
I advise you to stay away from it and beware of it as I have faced compatibility issues with the internal solid-state drives.
72% appreciated its low power consumption, though 28% noticed higher energy usage
I have noticed that this SSD does not receive enough power on 4 prong housings.
The write speed dropped to 80 MB for the rest of the copy, which was painful to use. So, I decided not to keep the drive and didn't even bother testing the read speeds.
Occasionally, my SSD goes 100% active time with almost no read/write.
75% praised for its lightning-fast read and write speeds, but 25% experienced slower performance
I personally experienced that the write speed of this drive was not impressive initially and dropped to 80 MB for the rest of the copy, which was painful. Based on my experience, I can say that the drive has this problem.
75% appreciated the silent operation, though 25% noticed some noise
If the SSD does not receive enough power, it will make a noise.
I bought the 1TB 990 EVO to upgrade from a gen3 Intel 660p 512GB and it's performing well.
