About Crucial BX500 480GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-Inch Internal SSD
67% liked the generous storage capacity, but 33% found it too small
I formatted the drive into 2 partitions with the system drive set to 300 GB and installed all software on it as my main PC.
I bought a 2TB version of the SATA SSD and have been using it since July 2023. I have filled about half of its capacity.
My write cache is 8GB and anything smaller will be written at 400MB/s.
I compared the raw size and number of sectors of the drive with another drive.

71% found it compatible with various systems, but 29% encountered compatibility issues
The BX series provides a noticeable speed benefit for an older laptop compared to a traditional hard disk.
I use the internal solid state drive on my Lenovo ideapad for internet browsing, occasional word or excel docs, or music and nothing else. There should be no reason for its decline.
The SSD doesn't properly support TRIM on some controllers (LSI) which require RZAT/DRAT support.
The retaining screw hole is slightly misplaced, causing the plastic fascia with the screw fitted to the drive to not quite reach, making it impossible to boot.
73% appreciated its low power consumption, though 27% noticed higher energy usage
My drive idles at a lower temperature than my other drives, indicating low power consumption.
The internal-solid-state-drive has low power consumption.
I was frustrated when the drive started off fast but eventually slowed down to 25 MB/s. It seems that the cause of this issue is thermal throttling.
I experienced a significant slowdown in speed while installing new games from Steam or copying large folders to/from this drive, indicating high power consumption.

69% praised for its lightning-fast read and write speeds, but 31% experienced slower performance
The SSD read/write speed is so fast that it behaves more like memory than a conventional spinning storage drive.
I noticed that the read/write speeds were capped at 20MB/s using Blackmagic Disc Speed Test.
The average read/write speed is 30mb/s.
For large files like videos, I used to get write speeds averaging around 200 MB/s and read speeds were about the same. However, now the write speeds start off with high speeds (100 MB/s) but then drop down quickly to speeds averaging 10 MB/s and can go as low as 5 MB/s, which is excruciatingly slow.

66% appreciated the silent operation
The internal solid-state drive has silent operation and a little longer battery life.
Internal solid-state drives have silent operation and provide a slightly longer battery life.
70% praised for its rugged durability, while 30% experienced hardware failure
For users who want better performance and longevity or for applications with a lot of disk write activity, the MX series is the superior choice.
I suggest formatting the SSD with less capacity to help in wearing it out.
As I approach 50% drive capacity, I am unable to write data among multiple threads/processes.
My SSD's health degraded after 1.5 years and it has many bad sectors which slowed down my system. The disk usage was mostly at 100%.
