About MSI MPG A850G PCIE 5 & ATX 3.0 Gaming Power Supply
Overall Feedback:
87% positive
88% appreciated the cooling mechanism
Under heavy gaming loads, the power supply operates almost silently, indicating its effective and quiet cooling mechanism.
83% appreciated the efficiency rating
I have never experienced any power-related issues since installing the power supply with 80 Plus Gold certification, ensuring high efficiency and stable power delivery to all my components.
87% highlighted the modularity
The modular design of our power supply makes cable management easier and occupies less space.
The internal power supply is full modular, which is an absolute boon for me. It reduces clutter and improves airflow.
84% liked the power output stability
I bought a 1000 W PSU to pre-empt upgrading some other components, but I haven't done that yet. It is powering my system which was completely stable with a 500 W PSU.
92% were satisfied with protection features, yet 8% weren't
The internal power supply has protection features that avoid using the 8 pin adapter and keep the GPU safe from burning. It also frees up potentially 4 8-pin slots.
Since installing it, I have never experienced any power-related issues with this power supply. Its 80 Plus Gold certification ensures reliable power delivery and high efficiency to all my components.
I read an article about MSI changing the 12VHPWR cable to ensure it is pushed in all the way due to reports of the RTX 4090 melting cables.
87% found the operations silent
The internal power supply turned on the system and all parts worked fine without any noise.
I have complained that the internal power supply's cooling mechanism is not efficient. The cheap fan used is likely to fail first, as reported in other reviews. Even when the fan was still working, it was making grinding noises and was not providing enough cooling power to prevent forced shutdowns of the PSU.
I have noticed that the power supply has a Zero RPM Fan Mode which ensures a quiet computing experience. The fan remains idle until the power supply reaches a certain temperature or load, keeping noise levels to a minimum.
My fan on top has died, making it unable to cool the PSU and maintain system stability.
