About H!Fiber 10Gb SFP+ PCI-E Network Card NIC
Overall Feedback:
86% positive
89% liked its seamless compatibility, but 11% had trouble with driver installation
The internal-networking-cards are compatible with our system as the Ethernet connection showed 10000 Mb/s immediately.
I almost gave up, but then I found the Broadcom NetXtreme card which resolved the startup issues and was recognized by pfsense.
Off-brand modules do not work under ESXi, but they work under Windows and Linux.
86% appreciated its rock-solid reliability, though 14% experienced frequent disconnections
I found the X-520/82599 based network cards to be reliable, reasonably priced, and with OPNsense/FreeBSD driver support. This motivated me to try 82599 and see if it solves my performance issues.
In Linux, the card works fine despite performance issues in Windows 10.
I recommend using Intel 10gb nics instead of this product as it is not durable.
I ordered the product because it had a fan which was not shown in the product photo, but it turned out to be misleading.
77% found it easy to install
The installation process took about an hour and included putting boards in two machines, running cables, attaching adapters, and installing a switch.
I had trouble installing the driver at first, but the seller provided a product manual with instructions for Windows 11. After following those instructions, I was able to install the driver quickly.
I installed the internal-networking-card into my home made OMV NAS with SSD system drive and SSD data drive.
81% praised for its lightning-fast speeds, while 19% experienced connectivity issues
I had faced performance issues with network cards that used RTL8125B chips and I225-V chips. I found that X-520/82599 based network cards are reliable, reasonably priced, and have OPNsense/FreeBSD driver support, so I decided to try 82599 and see if that solved my performance issues. So far, it has been great and I wish I would have started with this configuration instead of wasting so much money on other network adapters.
I am experiencing a performance issue with the card in Windows 10. The download speed is 10Gbs but the upload speed maxes out around 300Mbs.
It is plug and play with no issues on a Wintel machine and now on an old H81 based system running Proxmox, so Linux users should not have any problems.
I had a spare x1 slot and got this NIC, and Windows 11 recognized it immediately.
