About Cuisinart CSG-625 Infrared Surface Thermometer
Overall Feedback:
78% positive
65% praised for its high accuracy, while 35% found it unreliable.
I tested the thermometer on a pizza stone and compared it with other more accurate temperature measuring devices. It always stays within 5% to 7% of my other thermometers, which is acceptable.
I find the thermometer accurate, but it has limited usability as it only measures surface temperature.
I have noticed that the thermometer is not super accurate and I get different readings every time even if I try really carefully to aim at the same spot.
67% found the battery life exceptional, although 33% had issues with it dying quickly.
The thermometer comes with a 9V battery that lasts for a good amount of time.
I replace the batteries every 3 weeks on average.
The battery dies even when I am not using the unit.
I need to replace the thermometer batteries every month, regardless of usage.
70% highlighted the clear display, though 30% found it hard to read.
The LCD has handy features and the display lights up well.
The thermometer has a well-made and nice LCD screen.
The product stopped working like a kids toy and the display showed various messages like ERR, -OL and a temp reading of 122F, no matter where I pointed it.
As a consumer product, we should not expect a super level of accuracy from it.
68% appreciated its robust build, yet 32% found it fragile.
I find the unit accurate and comfortable to hold, but the cheap manufacturing signs make me question its long-term durability.
I feel unsure if the product would survive a fall from the counter as it feels light and fragile.
The product is not sturdy enough for outdoor use near the grill.
65% liked its fast reading time
I was able to measure the temperature of food on the BBQ and saute pan with ease.
77% highlighted its timer functionality
Both thermometers can read in either Fahrenheit or Celsius.
The thermometer is easy to use and read with a backlit display and the ability to hold a temperature in memory.
77% appreciated its waterproof feature, yet 23% found it lacking.
I have noticed that stainless steel surfaces do not emit IR when hot, so reading the outside of a kettle will not give the same result as reading the water inside. However, water emits IR when hot, so it can be read if using it to prepare coffee in a pour-over brewer.
This thermometer is not water-resistant and does not indicate when cooked meat/poultry/fish, etc., is done cooking.
I tested the thermometer on a pizza stone and compared it with other more accurate temperature measuring devices. It always stays within 5% to 7% of my other thermometers, which is acceptable.
I needed to verify some air temperature readings as laser temp readers can be inaccurate. I used a probe thermometer and it tied to the readings the AC tech was getting from his expensive, high tech devices.
The thermometer is much more accurate and I can cook the meat to my taste preference.
