I tested the adhesive strength of the heat shrink tubing by shrinking it onto a nail and pulling it off after it had cooled. I found that the tubing was securely adhered and could not be pulled off even with a pair of pliers.
After use, the connection is strengthened by the extra adhesive in the heat shrink tubing.
The adhesive strength could be better, but it still works well to keep dirt, water, moisture, and corrosion out of our wire connection.
