The immersion blender has 12 speeds with audible indication as I increase speed.
The speed dial does not affect the speed or intensity of the immersion blender, it's only for looks.
I need to hold down the ON or TURBO button the entire time while using it.
I spent 45 minutes trying to blend beans using different techniques but the product disappointed me as it did not perform as expected. The adjustable speed of the immersion-blender was not sufficient to blend the beans properly.

Upon inspection, I held it to my nose where the dial is and found that the motor was rubbing against what I assume is the shaft. Although the teeth that connect to the blade shaft looked fine, they were slipping inside the housing where the motor is.
When I turned it on, the motor/gears made a scratching sound.
I find that the immersion blender is not suitable for big or prolonged blending tasks.
