If you want thicker ice, turn the unit off, then hold the on/off button down for ten seconds. The five seconds suggested in the manual is too short and will not increase the thickness of the ice.
I can make enough ice for two days in an evening because the machine cranks out the ice fast enough.
The quantity of ice produced is adequate for a couple or even a family of four.
Within an hour, I have enough ice for a party of 4. Based on my experience, I can say that the ice maker is efficient.

When I start the ice maker from room temperature, it takes a while to reach the advertised speed of 28 lbs a day, but after a while, it exceeds that.
