I haven't measured the amount of Essick product I use for each humidifier, but it's an extremely small amount. I've seen no sign of S. marcescens or any other unwanted microorganism since I started adding just a smidgen every time I fill my humidifiers tanks with distilled water.
After using the product, the filters go for over a month without gumming up and growing mold, and the water tray and mechanisms haven't needed cleaning in the sink.
After using the cleaner, my humidifier wicks stay relatively clean even after 2 months, whereas before they would get dirty after just one month.
I highly recommend this product for anyone using a wick humidifier. I was worried about using tap water without any sanitation, but now I know the water will be even cleaner before the wick removes contaminants.
