I advise having clearance under the door or cracking it open for the fan to perform efficiently with make-up air.
Installing the fan from the bottom after drywall is in was difficult due to the flange around the bottom and the electrical box on the side. I had to bend one side flange flush and add another 2x4 to support, but the electrical installation was straightforward.
