I keep the fan at 100 CFM in my bathroom.
I worked around the oval exhaust pipe by using a 4 inch aluminium elbow, taping the seams with metal tape, gently squeezing one end until it matched the oval shape, and inserting and taping it together with the fan. The adapter was not available in Canada.

The fan has safety features related to ventilation and is able to pull air from the first floor down to the basement.
I have compared the safety features of this fan with another fan I have used and found this fan to be lacking in safety features.
