About Broan-Nutone 682 Duct-Free Ventilation Fan
Overall Feedback:
73% positive
68% praised its long-lasting durability, but 32% experienced premature failure
I found that the fan offers good value, but not great. With an additional investment of around $15-$20 in materials, its effectiveness significantly improves beyond what's provided out of the box.
The filter is small and doesn't do much, and the fan is just a small moving fan.
I have never seen a motor that burns itself if run constantly.
The housing is made of thin and flimsy metal and will bend and flex easily.
71% found it easy to install, but 29% had difficulties
Installing the fan was relatively easy. It required cutting a hole and wiring it up.
If the grill was just 1/2 inch larger all the way around, it would have been a perfect and easy installation.
71% liked the easy-to-clean design, but 29% found it difficult to maintain
It's difficult to replace the fan without an attic.
I am dissatisfied with the fan's filter as it is small and ineffective at removing odors.
I am disappointed with the activated charcoal filter as it is ineffective and does not remove odors from the water closet.
I find the product flimsy and the charcoal filter subpar.
I am disappointed with the included filter. It is a flimsy aluminum rectangle with only about 1/8 inch of filter fabric that can easily deform during installation.
68% appreciated the mounting options, but 32% found them limited
The mounting mechanism is extremely poorly designed and difficult to use.
I find the mounting bracket frustrating as it is difficult to attach to a joist/stud with screws and requires nails instead.
The mounting bracket is ridiculous and needs to be lined up perfectly. I could only get one to snap into the bracket, the other had to be held with a screw.
The connection area for the electrical connections is covered by a piece of metal with a screw that is difficult to access without subjecting your hands to the sharp edges of the sheet metal frame.
The mounting bracket does not allow the plastic ceiling cover to spring up tight against the ceiling.
The product's only downside is that it doesn't come with a cable (conduit) clamp.
72% liked how quiet it operated, but 28% found it too loud
The fan I'm using is quieter than others I've used before, but still loud enough to mask the sounds of nature.
The fan is not quiet and the noise level varies depending on the installation space. In my case, with the fans back against a wall, its noticeably loud on the other side.
The fan is too quiet to hide noise.
The fan makes a clunky noise.
64% were satisfied with its safety features, but 36% found them lacking
I am disappointed with the included filter as it is flimsy and easily deformable during installation.
I found that the fan offers good value, but not great. With an additional investment of around $15-$20 in materials, its effectiveness significantly improves beyond what's provided out of the box.
The fan is so quiet that my daughter did not even know it was running.
