Assembling the fan was a bit difficult. The base comes in two pieces that need to be snapped together and then snapped to the bottom of the fan. The directions were not very clear and I had to assemble the bottom first and then thread the cord through. Make sure to line up the base with the correct spot on the bottom of the fan as there is a specific direction it must be assembled.

The fan is pretty quiet except for the original whistle.
I noticed that the fan has a rotating noise and goes smoothly without extra noise. On lower settings, it doesn't interfere with anything I might be listening to. On higher settings, it gets a bit louder, but still less than my dishwasher or laundry. Based on my experience, it is a great fan.
Within a month of purchasing it, the fan started making loud noises.
