I replaced the hose with a pre-washed laboratory grade tygon tube and tested again with a new 3gal water bottle. The pumped water mostly tasted as it should, but there was still a slight detectable chemical taste being added by the innards of the pump itself.
I warn not to touch the cord while charging as each pressure on the plug can make the charging port lose and eventually get broken.

It has performed flawlessly and the battery has held out through three 5 gallon jugs on a charge and has not run out of charge. When it needs a charge, I set it up accordingly. Overall, I have had a positive experience with the installation and setup of the hot-cold-water-dispensers.
