About POWERUP 4.0 The Next-Generation Smartphone Controlled Paper Airplane Kit
Overall Feedback:
95% positive
85% appreciated the additional features
I love the additional feature of the hobby rc airplanes, which allows me to fold and choose other planes in the app, track which plane I have flown, and see each flight with its duration.
78% found it easy to assemble and maintain
After 20 rough landings, the soft nose piece became damaged, but I was able to fix it with a small amount of glue from my glue gun.
70% appreciated its long battery life, though 30% found it short-lived
I felt like I got closer to 15 minutes of battery life, even though I wasn't running at full throttle.
I flew the plane for so long that it didn't touch the ground until the battery died.
I estimate that the plane will work for 3-4 months with daily use before the battery or something stops working.
89% appreciated its durability
Hobby-rc-airplanes are virtually indestructible due to their low weight.
I find the product to be solid and durable with controlled use, but it can break if not used carefully.
70% liked the responsive radio control system, but 30% experienced interference
Using the autopilot and gyro stabilizer makes it easier for me to control and fly the paper airplane, resulting in a smoother and more enjoyable experience.
After only a few tries with the iPhone controls, we were able to fly the planes around in circles.
I had to take a minute to understand the controls. I figured out that the phone gyro controlled left and right, and the slide was only throttle. After that, I was able to fly pretty well continuously.
I gifted a remote controlled paper airplane to my grandson but the app was incompatible with the model.
81% praised for its scale accuracy and detail, while 19% found it lacking
I have never used the Invader fold that comes with the kit and have always used POWERUP 4.0 with my original fold that I have been developing for years. I am also a nerd.
I experienced a nose dive in the plane from 30 feet due to a small breeze.
I love the additional feature of the hobby rc airplanes, which allows me to fold and choose other planes in the app, track which plane I have flown, and see each flight with its duration.
The plane needs experienced adult supervision for assembly and may lose wheels or wing fins if not secured properly. It is not built to last or withstand sharp edges, wind speed, or turbulence, and seems overpriced at $60+.
In expert mode, I can perform loops and rolls with the airplane. I can switch back to medium or beginner mode if needed.
