About MHQJRH M.2 2280 SSD heatsink, Double-Sided Heat Sink
Overall Feedback:
98% positive
94% liked the sleek design
The heatsink has a two-piece, black anodized aluminum sandwich design. The top half is clearly machined from aluminum billet, while the bottom is thin metal, probably just watercut or punched. It is nicely finished and anodized black with white manufacturer printing on the bottom. Even this rather insignificant detail is of high quality and nicely done.
The heatsink has a subdued and neutral look in any build and is much better than those band aid like heatsinks that are strapped on by a rubber band.
95% praised for its solid build quality
I noticed that the heatsinks come in a high quality box with seals and include warranty and instructional paperwork, a two piece heatsink, three thermal pads, and screws with a screwdriver. The screwdriver was a nice touch as the screws are small and many people may not have a small enough driver.
I found that the heatsink quality is pretty good, but the aluminum dents and scratches easily.
96% found it compatible with multiple platforms, but 4% encountered compatibility issues
I frequently see temperatures of over 40-50 degrees while using ADATA SX8200NP 240 with this SSD heatsink.
I found that the heatsink was not compatible with my ASUS mb. The drive would not fit because ASUS uses fancy flared Pcie x16 locking tabs, so I snipped part of the plastic on the tab and then the SSD with heatsink fit just fine.
97% praised for its excellent cooling performance
The temperature never exceeded 48 degrees Celsius, which is about 12 degrees cooler than before.
After installing the new heatsink, my drive temperature was around 48-50 Celsius and it only peaked at 52 Celsius once over 10 minutes. It was absolutely awesome performance.
79% appreciated the advanced fan control features, but 21% found them overwhelming
When I use a small fan to blow on the heatsinks, my NVME drives top out at around 48-50 degrees Celsius.
While typing, my drives are at 40c and 43c, indicating that the fan control of the heatsinks is working properly.
I am unsure about the reason behind my primary SSD running at a higher temperature at idle. It could be due to it being the OS drive, overclocking, or the quality of the ASUS heatsink.
I highly recommend these heatsinks. They work great for PS5 or a PC without built-in heatsinks. The quality is fantastic for the price, I paid $11 total or $5.50 per assembly.
The finish on the visible area of the heatsinks is good, but on the side that contacts the pads there were some scratches and small nicks. It's not a big deal as it's not going to be seen and it doesn't affect anything, but I wanted to point it out.
