There is no noticeable noise floor and no coloration of sound. The sound can be made as loud as needed with plenty of headroom to spare, even accounting for -10dB of preamp for EQ.
I compared the noise floor and hum of the headphone amp in this tablet with the noise floor and hum of the headphone amp in my other tablets (Audient ID4 and Sound BlasterX G6). This tablet's noise floor and hum is cleaner and less harsh.

I have found that the power through single ended is plenty for the headphones I mentioned. Medium gain gives plenty of power. I also plugged in a KZ PR2 and it needs a lot of power, about the same as the 4XX to get to the same volume but both driven perfectly in medium gain. The difference between medium and high gain is substantial so I doubt there is something this amp cant power properly.

I like the natural sound quality.
I noticed improved bass control on my planar magnetic headphones, which improved the instrument separation as well since the bass no longer bled into the low mids. The sound quality is really good.
The sound quality of the DAC/Amp is great.
