While installing the shower head, there was no leaking and there was plenty of tape.
I noticed that the showerhead leaks if the enclosed Teflon/plumbers tape is not used to seal the connections. I did not use it at first and then used a reasonable amount. I have not experienced any leaks since then.

I faced a leakage issue while installing the diverter and even after trying to fix it, I was not able to stop the leakage.
