About Garmin zumo XT, All-Terrain Motorcycle GPS Navigation Device
Overall Feedback:
81% positive
76% praised for its pinpoint accuracy, but 24% experienced occasional errors
The iPhone GPS loses itself at times, especially during critical maneuvers. However, the Zumo XT is the best motorcycle GPS I've seen in years.
I faced difficulty entering my current location as a place and found it harder to do by trial and error compared to my car GPS's.
73% appreciated its long-lasting battery, but 27% found it drained quickly
On battery, it dies within an hour or so, but it's a workhorse when on power.
I am frustrated with the battery life of the device. It drains itself in a few weeks of non-use, despite only using it on the supplied cradle.
I am getting at most about an hour of battery life, but I was told that I can get three hours of battery life when I wire it to my bike.
83% liked the bright and clear display
Even in the bright Texas sun, I can easily see the screen.
I have no problems reading the screen even in bright sunlight while riding down the road, as the screen quality is good.
The screen has off-road features and is big and bright.
71% appreciated the ample storage capacity, but 29% found it limited
I bought this model for its extra storage capacity of up to 256G, but it can only read a card with FAT32 format, which is not compatible with Windows systems.
I can enter the names of common businesses in San Diego that Google Maps finds instantly, but the Zumo acts like they don't exist. This suggests that the GPS unit's storage capacity is insufficient for storing their data.
73% found the interface intuitive and easy to use, but 27% found it confusing
I am familiar with the user interface of Garmin and do not expect any significant shortcomings.
I love the Garmin for its easy-to-see interface while riding and the Bluetooth connection to my iPhone, which I can now stash in my pocket.
Setting up the XT with my iPhone and Sena 20S headset was a breeze thanks to the simple interface and quick setup wizard.
The interface is faster than most GPS units I've had in the past and I can overlay Google-type maps over the area I need to drive in.
The GPS unit is not perfect yet, but it is very cautious not to put me in a bad situation with my RV.
