About Garmin eTrex 10 Worldwide Handheld GPS Navigator
89% praised for its pinpoint accuracy, but 11% experienced occasional errors
As more satellites went up, the GPS unit became amazingly accurate and spot on for land navigation.
On a super cloudy day surrounded by buildings, trees, and a ton of clouds, the GPS device provides an accuracy of 5 feet.
At this moment, the elevation accuracy is off by 250+ feet.
I found the device terribly inaccurate and frustrating to use out in the field.
82% appreciated its long-lasting battery, but 18% found it drained quickly
The battery life is great and can last for 24 hours of tracking, even with 60% battery left with NiMH batteries.
With a good brand of batteries, I can cover many trips (2/4 hours per trip) as the battery life depends on the batteries used.
With two rechargeable NiMH AA batteries with capacity of 2600 each, I experienced more than 20 hours of battery life while accessing both types of satellites and leaving the backlight on constantly.
Based on my personal experience, the battery life is very poor and not as claimed by Garmin.
77% liked the clear display, but 23% found it hard to read in bright light
The screen is highly readable in direct sunlight, which is a huge advantage over color models.
The screen quality is nice and clear. The unit is smaller and lighter than expected and easy to use.
I am disappointed with the screen quality. It resembles an old-fashioned computer screen from 20 years ago and I cannot see the data properly. I expect a modern mobile phone-like screen for the price.
I find it almost unbelievable that the GPS display is very low tech compared to almost every mobile phone today.

80% found the interface intuitive and easy to use, but 20% found it confusing
The interface is easy to use and the display is readable even in bright sunlight.
The user interface works for me because I am used to the older Legend and it is easy to learn the ropes.
It took some time to get used to the user interface.
Despite being good equipment at a reasonable price, the user interface is poorly structured.

91% praised for its rugged water resistance
I have noticed that the device handles water well, even after being rained on and splashed with mud.
I noticed that the device still works even when not in a dry bag, indicating it is likely waterproof.
The device appears to be waterproof with an o-ring and twist-lock cap to keep out moisture.
The device is built tough and water resistant for hiking purposes, so no case is needed.
