I always keep my GPS unit plugged into the cigarette lighter connection and never run it off the battery.
I am not sure about the battery life yet as I have only had it for a couple of days.
I have complained that the GPS shuts down with a low battery error after only three months, despite being plugged in all the time and turned on only when the car is running.
The battery doesn't hold charge.

The DriveSmart 86 has an 8-inch display and is a true visual upgrade. It also has excellent US road knowledge with speed alerts and other good awareness features.
The screen graphics are brilliant and sharp, even older eyes will appreciate how clear this display is.
I purchased the 76 but found the screen too big.
