About Garmin Drive 50 USA LM GPS Navigator System
Overall Feedback:
67% positive
64% praised for its pinpoint accuracy, but 36% experienced occasional errors
I found the Garmin Drive 50 LM GPS to be very accurate in terms of navigational accuracy.
I am dissatisfied with the accuracy of my handheld GPS unit. It lacks reliability and deserves zero stars.
I lost confidence in the product after the very first error. I have used a Tom-Tom in the truck that has always been accurate.
67% appreciated its long-lasting battery, but 33% found it drained quickly
I am dissatisfied with the GPS battery life as it did not last for even an hour on a road trip and I had to constantly plug in the power source every time I used it.
I suggest leaving the plug in as some people complain about the battery not lasting long when not plugged into the vehicle.
My handheld GPS unit has a very poor battery life and only lasts for about an hour, so I need to keep it plugged in while using it.
My handheld GPS unit has an extremely poor battery life after unplugging.
When I received it, the battery was dead and registering and updating was difficult due to low battery.
When unplugged and used, the battery life lasts only for 10 minutes.
70% liked the clear display, but 30% found it hard to read in bright light
Entering info and commands on the touch screen can be frustrating as it is not sensitive enough.
I am disappointed with the touch screen as it is difficult to type without the perfect amount of pressure. It often doubles types, types nothing, or freezes. On my model, the letters expand so that I can see what I am pressing, but sometimes the letter expands and just lingers there until I press something else.
I do not like the cheap feeling and looking plastic screen that is only so-so to type on.
I had a better touch screen phone in 2009 than the one I am using now.
Sometimes the touchscreen is slow and unresponsive.
The screen is not sensitive and doesn't detect my finger or chooses the wrong thing.
71% appreciated the ample storage capacity, but 29% found it limited
I was able to update the maps and make changes without any further problems.
I expected the new device to have all maps and helps, such as restaurants over one year old, but it did not.
The device's storage capacity is limited and when I update it, the data takes up all the available built-in memory, making it impossible to download any further optional data.
64% found the interface intuitive and easy to use, but 36% found it confusing
If the interface allowed me to override the default directions more easily, I would have given it a five-star rating.
I found inputting an address to be complicated and not user-friendly.
On each screen, the interface is extremely confusing.
The GPS device has a nice size screen and reasonably well-working touch screen, but the user interface is terrible.
For back country hiking, I found the unit to have good accuracy, graphics, and battery life.
