About TRUGLO TFX Pro Tritium and Fiber Optic Xtreme Handgun Sights
Overall Feedback:
70% positive
67% liked the mounting compatibility
I noticed that the gunsmith used a shorter length screw for front mount.
I had to stone down the base of the front sight to get it to start squarely and slide in with a sight pusher. It won't move under recoil.
68% appreciated the adjustment mechanism, while 32% disagreed
I used a sight press and a wooden dowel to adjust the mechanism of gun-sights. The process worked great without damaging the sights.
The Shield adjusts point of aim by the front sight only with a fixed rear. There is a plunger underneath the fixed rear to be aware of.
I was having difficulty adjusting the gun-sights with hammer and punch. I could have gone harder but didn't want to risk marring the slide. I found pusher to be much better.
I have faced major issues with the front sight sliding to the side, even after ordering the correct sight. The fit is too loose and too high, which makes it frustrating to use. I also had to adjust my aim due to the front sight being too high.
71% liked the magnification range, but 29% didn't
My product's rear sight height is 0.225 inches, which differs from the S&W factory rear sight height of 0.238 inches.
66% highlighted the field of view, however, 34% were disappointed
I upgraded my sights because my sight alignment picture was being blocked by the chamber indicator, so the height of these sights must be a bit lower than the factory ones.
86% were satisfied with the battery life
The gun-sights work as advertised and are bright in the day time. They are as visible if not more than Trijicon sites in low light condition.
In low light or no light, the tritium glows pretty bright from my perspective and provides an excellent bright green three dot sight picture.
These gun-sights won't run out of batteries and I'll know years in advance if I should consider replacing them.
I installed the gun-sights myself and found that it was not impossible to install without special tools. I used a battery-powered hand grinder with a cutting wheel to install the rear sight, and after about 3 go rounds, the rear sight went in the slot on slide, centered it up, didn't need lock tite as was very snug, 750 rounds later it has not budged.
The brightness adjustment mechanism of this gun-sight is difficult to push and right up against the lens, making it easy to smudge. Additionally, the single button for brightness adjustment requires cycling through all options again if the desired brightness is missed.
In certain settings and ranges, the crosshair moves left and right up to 6 or 10 minutes of angle.
